The Team Behind the Mission

The experience to build it. The passion to deliver it.

Don Maloy

With 18 years of experience in the cockpit — from serving as a U.S. Naval Aviator to flying for commercial airlines — the founder of Maloy Aircraft brings a deep, firsthand understanding of what it takes to prepare pilots for today’s complex aviation environment. He has logged more than 5,000 flight hours across 30+ aircraft types, with operational experience under both Part 121 and Part 135 regulations.

After witnessing a growing disconnect between airline expectations and the limitations of the civilian training systems, he launched Maloy Aircraft to address a critical gap in the market — the absence of a training system intentionally designed to align with the demands of today’s airline operations.

He holds a degree in Applied Physics from the University of North Carolina and pairs his academic foundation with hands-on engineering experience in mechanical design. His leadership style, shaped by service and execution, reflects a long-term commitment to building something enduring — a company grounded in trust, shaped by purpose, and built to meet the needs of both customers and those who believe in its future.

Joey Orlando

With a degree in Computer Science from the University of Central Florida, Joey combines a lifelong passion for software engineering with hands-on expertise across the full technology stack. Fluent in TypeScript, Java, and Python, he has designed and deployed scalable applications and architected robust back-end interfaces. His approach emphasizes clean code, modular architecture, and performance optimization across platforms.

Aviation has been a lifelong interest for Joey — a passion sparked in childhood that now finds purpose in the systems he helps develop at Maloy Aircraft. His background includes leading software delivery at a high-growth technology company, where he advanced into a leadership role managing cross-functional engineering teams. He has overseen end-to-end development cycles, from initial design sprints to production deployment, and is experienced in Agile workflows, CI/CD pipelines, and API integration.

At Maloy Aircraft, he supports the development of software tools and systems that underpin the company’s training technologies, blending technical precision with a personal connection to the mission.

Xinyu "Noah" Yang

Holding both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in aerospace engineering from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Xinyu Yang has contributed to over five sponsored research projects, including efforts backed by the FAA and several aviation companies. His experience spans conceptual aircraft design, flight dynamics modeling, CFD and FEA analysis, and pilot-in-the-loop simulation-building a versatile skill set that supports the full lifecycle of aerospace development.

Driven by a long-standing interest in practical aircraft design, Xinyu has worked across a range of platforms, from rotorcraft to electric and transonic fixed-wing concepts. His background includes aerodynamic modeling, component prototyping, and the development of flight simulators. Whether modeling complex geometries or integrating designs and human interfaces into digital simulations, he brings focus and adaptability to each phase of the engineering process.

At Maloy Aircraft, Xinyu applies this expertise to shape practical, high-performance training systems that meet the evolving demands of modern pilot development.
